Day 1: Roma

Plan your arrival for mid-afternoon and kickstart your exploration of the region with The Night Show Sunset Experience;
(November – March: Monday, Wednesday or Friday;
April – October: Monday -Friday),
or a self-guided tour of The Oil Patch (daily) at the Big Rig.

Day 2: Roma/Injune

Start your morning with either a tour of Australia’s largest cattle selling facility (Tuesday), breakfast surrounded by native flora and fauna at the Moorelands Bush Nursery onsite café (Saturday or Sunday), or a morning stroll downtown to the Avenue of Heroes and Roma’s largest
bottle tree.

Day 2: Roma/Injune

Take a stroll to learn about the Characters of Injune, visit the memorial in Henricks Park or head along Second Avenue to the lagoon – keep a lookout for local birdlife and wildlife around the 1.2km track. Join the locals at the pub or Bowling Club (Friday night only) for dinner. Stop into the Visitor
Information Centre for local advice and enjoy morning tea
or lunch at Café on Second.

Day 3: Injune

Take the day to explore the Arcadia Valley and Lake Nuga Nuga via The Arcadia Valley Loop, Tourist Drive 8, Carnarvon Ranges, or Mt Moffatt.

Day 4: Injune/Mitchell

Start your morning with breakfast at Café on Second. If you missed any of the local attractions on the first day, tick them off your list this morning before driving 165km to Mitchell via Womblebank Gap Rd, following the Wild Dog Fence and passing Major Mitchell’s Campsite.

Day 4: Injune/Mitchell

Take a self-guided tour of Mitchell, starting at the Kenniff Court House along Cambridge Street. Continue to the Great Artesian Spa and Booringa Heritage Museum before enjoying a sunset walk along the Maranoa River Walk and dinner at the local pub or restaurant.

Day 4: Injune/Mitchell

If it’s getting dark don’t venture too far, as the path continues along an ungraded track for 4km (one way).
Overnight in one of Mitchell’s motels or caravan parks.

Day 5: Mitchell to Surat

Stretch your legs along the Maranoa River Walk and grab a light breakfast before driving to Surat. Take the backroads and detour via Dunkeld Road (Tourist Drive 6) or for the comfort of a sealed road, stay on the main highway, both will travel via Roma.

Day 5: Mitchell to Surat

Spend the rest of the day enjoying the sights of Surat with a visit to the Cobb & Co Changing Station Museum, Surat on Balonne Art Gallery, Shire Hall or Aboriginal Traditional Campsite and Interpretative Shelter.

Day 6: Surat to Yuleba/Wallumbilla to Roma

Step it out along the banks of the Balonne River before grabbing a coffee and breakfast at one of the cafes along Burrowes Street. Prepare to get red dirt on your tyres as you follow the Cobb & Co
Way, Tourist Drive 7, winding from Surat to Yuleba.

Day 6: Surat to Yuleba/Wallumbilla to Roma

Once you arrive in Yuleba, take in the town highlights with a stroll along the Bendemere Walk before stopping by the Yuleba Hotel for a pub lunch, or if you’ve stocked your esky, drive 5km to Judd’s Lagoon for a picnic.

Day 6: Surat to Yuleba/Wallumbilla to Roma

Continue 20km west to Calico Cottage in Wallumbilla and enjoy a stroll along the Harry Thompson Walk taking in local streets, Wallumbilla Creek and the showgrounds. Continue to Roma for your final night.

Day 7: Roma

Start your day at one of Roma’s cafes and fuel-up for a day of sightseeing. Head to the Roma Visitor Information Centre at The Big Rig for local insight and ask the friendly staff to get in the know about what’s on in the region.

Day 7: Roma

If you didn’t catch the Night Show Sunset Experience during your first night in Roma, stop into the Big Rig for the show before heading downtown for dinner at one of the local pubs or restaurants.
